In this classic collection of stories, compiled by Mike Resnick (winner of five Hugos, plus a plethora of other awards in multiple categories), such prominent authors as Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Barry Malzberg and a host of others take their pens and wits to make fun of themselves and the genre they live for.
This collection was originally titled 'Shaggy B.E.M. Stories' and was compiled exclusively for the 1988 Worldcon (Nolacon II). Seventy five percent of the original edition sold out over the Worldcon weekend and the rest disappeared soon after.
Phoenix Pick is proud to republish this classic collection of parodies. All the original stories are included and the only changes that have been made are corrections of typos and other mistakes. One new poem (‘There’s a Bimbo on the Cover’ by Michael F. Flynn) has been added to the book for obvious reasons—it just begged to belong to this irreverent collection.

Awful, one of the worst science fiction anthologies I ever read. Unknown writers, dull when not outright stupid novels, inconsistent content.
Somebody ought to explain to me the link between over 80% of the content and the compilation title.
Too bad that the name of Isaac asimov has been associated with such garbage. Besides, the only novel by Asimov that I found (despite my best efforts I couldn't go beyond 70%) is one of the least interesting - a mock scientific article.
Spend your money elsewhere, this isn't just worth it.
Regrettably, this is the first ebook that I've rated as `I didn't like' and part of that rating is probably because I didn't know the works that were being parodied. I think if I had been more familiar with the original stories then I might have had a better appreciation of what was being offered in B.E.M. and Bimbos. I will say that there were a couple of funny and well written stories that made me smile, the example being "Barbarian" by Poul Anderson, parodying `Conan' and `Love's Prurient Interest' by Cathy Ball, which is a parody of sci-fi conventions and fandom, and is an original story and not a parody of any particular author. However, besides these two stories and a couple of parodies of John Carter of Mars included in the book, I found myself shaking my head wondering what was going on. Overall, I was disappointed and I don't feel that this book is worth the price it is being sold. In fact, I would have regretted buying the book if it had been offered at $0.99. should provide more background information on this book on their website. It would have helped knowing what works were being parodied before hand. If I had known I probably wouldn't have purchased this book.
Excellent read
An interesting view into author's views on authors. Good for some light reading between heavier reading and to read some stories by some authors that you may not have seen elsewhere.
